Q. Where is Favela Mentawai?

Favela Mentawai is situated in an island located at North of Sipora, called Awera and it’s 5 minutes distance by boat from Tua Pejat.

Q. Is there electricity and drinkable water?

The villa is supplied by solar power and drinkable water is provided.

Q. Is there internet and mobile phone signal?

The villa is located right in front of Tua Pejat’s telecommunications tower, so 4g signal and free wi-fi is available.

Q. Will someone from Favela Mentawai be waiting for me at Tua Pejat’s port?

Yes, one of our staff members will be waiting for you when you arrive on the Mentawai fast ferry

Q. How do I know the price for the stay?

Q. Do I need travel insurance?
Yes—mandatory, including medical evacuation coverage. Bring policy details with you.

Q. Can you cater to dietary needs (vegan, gluten-free, etc.)?
Absolutely—let us know in advance and we’ll plan suitable options.

Q. Tell me about the Boat Package.
US$50 per person per day includes 2 surf sessions/day. Sessions are non-transferable (not to another day or person) and unused sessions are not credited/refunded.

Q. How do I get to Favela Mentawai from Padang?
Take the Mentawai Fast Ferry from Padang to Tuapejat (Tua Pejat). We’ll meet you at the port and transfer you by boat (5 minutes) to Awera Island.

Q. How about medical facilities and pharmacies?
Basic clinics are in Tuapejat; serious cases require evacuation to Padang. Pack personal medications.

Q. What documents/fees do I need to enter Indonesia/Mentawai?
Valid passport (6+ months), visa as required to enter Indonesia, and if surfing in Mentawai- a surf tax of 2 million IDR is required by Mentawai government to pay. We’ll advise latest details before arrival.

Q. Are there ATMs nearby?
Limited—withdraw cash in Padang before traveling.

Q. When is the best surf season?
Peak swell: June–August. Shoulder months (March - May & September - October) offer smaller, cleaner days with fewer crowds. ** This is general advice and of course we cannot predict/take responsibility for how the conditions will be when you are here.**
